Window of Functionality Training Workbook
The Window of Functionality is a self-paced training that explores why a person may retain the capacity to think, communicate, regulate, and complete tasks while access to those abilities changes from moment to moment.
Participants will learn to recognize the five phases of the window—open, early narrowing, compensation, closure, and recovery—while examining the hidden processing costs that can make functioning increasingly difficult. The training also introduces bandwidth overdraft, bandwidth debt, functional margin, state-matched support, and sustainable recovery and re-entry.
Through practical examples and the ongoing case of Alex, participants will learn how to look beyond visible performance, identify what may be consuming bandwidth, reduce unnecessary demands, and create conditions that make existing skills and strengths more accessible.
The goal is not maximum performance. It is sustainable access: functioning in ways that leave enough bandwidth for recovery, everyday life, and what comes next.
