Nervous System Architecture: Three Interacting Dimensions
No two nervous systems are organized the same way. This visual introduces the Bandwidth Model™ framework for understanding neurodevelopmental architecture across three interacting dimensions: Amplitude (intensity of processing and giftedness-related traits), Modulation (variability in attention and regulation associated with ADHD), and Direction (patterns of attention ranging from broad to monotropic, associated with autism). Rather than viewing these characteristics as fixed categories, this dimensional model illustrates how individuals may fall anywhere along each continuum, creating unique patterns of strengths, challenges, and bandwidth demands.

This handout presents the author's Bandwidth Model™, an evidence-informed conceptual framework for understanding how neurodevelopmental architecture influences cognition, attention, regulation, and daily functioning. The Bandwidth Model™ has not yet been empirically evaluated and should be considered a conceptual framework rather than an established scientific model.
